The Thank You Note

Thursday, June 19th, 2014

Let’s face it; thank you notes are probably the most annoying thing about a Bar or Bat Mitzvah. Flash forward for a moment:

The Bar Mitzvah weekend is over. *Sigh of relief*. Little Johnny didn’t mess up his Torah reading too much, Aunt Carol only had a few drinks, the Goldman cousins kept quiet about the centerpieces, and your family celebrated an important milestone. It’s now late afternoon on Sunday and the stressful weekend seems to have ended…but wait! The thank you notes!

1. Mailed vs. Emailed

To strike a balance between the convenience of email and the sincerity of mailed notes, Little Johnny should type out his message, paste it onto the formal card, and then send it by mail.

2. Time Frame:

Mailing thank you notes within two weeks after an event is standard. Aim to complete 20 cards each night, with a completion time of 10-15 days.

3. What to write:

Composing a thank you note can be tricky. Below is a link that outlines the proper format for thank you notes that will win approval from every receiver:
